The glitz, the glamour, the selfies, the high-profile mix-ups. Ya can't beat the Oscar season can ya?

Granted, it's still a few months away but before you know it, Christmas will be over and movie fans will be trying to cram in as many of the nominated flicks as they can before the big night. The nominations are due to be announced on January 22 of next year with the ceremony taking place in Los Angeles on February 24 but which movies are the experts tipping to take home the prize for Best Picture?

When it comes to predicting the outcome of events such as this, it's always a good idea to check in with the bookies and we've done that so you don't have to. According to Betfair, A Star Is Born starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper is in pole position to take home the statuette with odds of 13/8. Coming in second in the betting is soon-to-be-released drama Roma at 10/3 followed by Neil Armstrong biopic First Man at 11/2.

Lady Gaga is also favourite to win the Best Actress award ahead of Glenn Close and Olivia Colman while Cooper is second in the betting for best director after Roma's Alfonso Cuaron.

Of course, none of this will come as a surprise to anyone who has already seen A Star Is Born as both Gaga and Cooper put in fairly stellar performances throughout.

Will it be enough to take home the gold in February? Only time will tell.
