People just can't seem to get it.

While nationality mix ups are extremely common, it always just seems to go one way. If there's a talented Irish actor/sportsperson/whatever, just stick a British flag on there and no one will know the difference.

NO.

The latest offence comes courtesy of BT Sports, who last night presented Michael Conlan alongside a British flag for his homecoming against Brazilian Adeilson Dos Santos.

While some will argue that the Belfast boxer is technically a British citizen, he fights for Ireland and identifies as Irish - and the fans were having none of it.

Why have @btsport put a union flag next to Michael Conlan's name when he is Irish? ????????????☘

@BTSportBoxing yous have the wrong flag on Michael Conlan, he’s not British and never will be, he’s Irish and proud to be ????????????????????????????????

Michael conlan having a British flag next to his name on bt sports is a joke

@BTSportBoxing having the brits flag at the start of the @mickconlan11 fight then changed it to the Northern Irish flag but never a tricolor? The English claim athletes as British when it suits them #MichaelConlan

It was a happy ending for Conlan however, who won the eight-round super-featherweight contest 79-73.
