Yesterday evening it was announced that, after several days of counting, a decision had been made and Joe Biden would become the 46th president of the United States of America.
Already having claimed the new President-Elect as their own, Irish people have joined in on the celebrations since word first broke with locals down in Co Mayo - his great-great-great grandfather's homestead - amongst those most overjoyed by the news.
Cheering on his victory from all the way across the water, bottles of bubbly were popped and many a smile could be seen across the county as people toasted to Mr Biden's success.

A number of well-known Irish faces congratulated President Biden on the historic win, including Chris O'Dowd, who - in true Irish fashion - described it as a "great day for the parish".
