Travel heavyweight G Adventures have compiled a list of the top destinations for 2020 and guess what, Ireland is right there in the thick of it.
At number five no less.
Known for their small-group tours, the list includes destinations from Nicaragua to Greenland.
Experts in responsible travel and all things adventure, the guys at
G Adventure have analysed their data and coupled it with travel trends to forecast the 12 hottest spots to visit in 2020.

From fascinating emerging destinations to countries on the rebound, the list highlights places where tourism could really benefit the local communities.
Ranking Ireland fifth, it comes highly recommended. Partly thanks to 2020 being a leap year – when women subvert the tradition and propose, and partly thanks to Galway being appointed European Capital of Culture.
Georgia, Madagascar and Sri Lanka join Ireland to complete the top five, while the coveted number one spot goes to Nepal.

Having been busy rebuilding the country, there is now a big push on encouraging tourism once again. The ‘Visit Nepal 2020’ campaign aims to attract two million visitors by the end of next year…which shouldn’t be too hard, given all that it has to offer.
Both Japan and South Africa also make the list, hot on the heels of the time in the spotlight during the Rugby World Cup. Travellers to the so-called ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ have been steadily increasing, up a whole 23 per cent in the past year alone.
