It looks like we'll have to wait a little while longer for the return of indoor dining, meaning we will have to make the most of what outside has to offer.
The announcement from Government that there would be a delay to reopening indoor hospitality came as a blow to many.
However, there are hopes that these spaces will open soon, with requirements for Digital Covid Certificates. In the meantime, we’re all encouraged to take advantage of the great weather and enjoy some outdoor hospitality in our local or indeed on our staycation.
With new health and safety measures to consider, drinks producers have been helping venues around the country safely reopen in accordance with restrictions, with many impressive upgrades. Co-owner of Harbour Bar in Bray, John Duggan, explains how the hospitality sector has had massive supports from the drinks industry during the very difficult challenges the pandemic has presented. Irish Distillers has helped its pub customers throughout the pandemic and has a team of ambassadors across the country, who have had the opportunity to be upskilled so they’re ready for the reopening.
Brian Browne, On Trade Sales Director of Irish Distillers, explains, "The big thing for us then is for the next stage of the reopening, to give them the right level of support, to give them the strongest opportunity."
So many venues across the country have new and improved facilities to ensure that visitors can enjoy their long-awaited return in the safest way possible. Venues have seen thousands of pieces of outdoor furniture delivered, as well as awnings and other covers put up to protect us from those unpredictable Irish elements.
Now, the focus is on getting indoor hospitality open.
