Many of our favourite pubs around the country have been there for generations and are often run by a close-knit family, providing a unique local experience. We’re all keen to get back to these venues and show our support.
I don't think I need to explain why the pandemic has hit pubs hard. Many have been closed since the very beginning with little foresight into when they can resume regular business. Another blow came when it was announced last week that the opening up of indoor hospitality would be delayed.
The latest #TogetherAgain video from Drinks Ireland tells the story of the Palace Bar, which has been operating on Fleet Street in Dublin for 75 years, with a rich family history. Running a great bar for the community and visitors is what they do, and in the latest video, Willie Aherne explains how lockdown has been extremely tough for businesses like his.

These venues, with support from drinks producers, had worked hard and invested quite a bit to make sure that they can reopen safely. After all, providing a great service and experience is what they do.
"Between partitions, and sanitizing stations, and training for our staff, things were done well, they were done right,” he said.
And all this work to make sure we’re safe as we get #TogetherAgain made it even more difficult for publicans like Willie to receive the news of the delay.
Willie concluded, "We want to get inside, the Palace Bar is about inside.
"We are ready. We will do everything we need to reopen. We need to get our doors open."
