Bord Gáis Energy has installed thousands of Hive Active Heating units in homes across Ireland, helping our customers improve the energy efficiency in their homes. The energy efficiency impact of this equates to over 18GWh’s of energy.
18GWh’s may seem small but that is enough energy to maintain 4,285 households across the country, for an entire year.

Children are the future. And with kids like this, the future looks bright.
This Irish 12-year-old is putting us all to shame when it comes to doing our bit for the environment, and she has been doing so for some time now.
School student Flossie Donnelly launched her charity '
Flossie and the Beach Cleaners' earlier this year, setting out on a mission to clean up the beaches of South Dublin.
Since then, the group has been growing, with large crowds regularly turning out for beach cleans.

Caring deeply about the ocean and marine life, Flossie and her crew of beach cleaners want to help clear our waters of plastic and other trash to stop the damage being done to marine life. Through removing such rubbish from our beaches, they hope to stop fish and birds becoming entangled in plastic waste or ingesting plastic debris, which often results in suffocation, drowning or starvation.
As well as getting out and clearing away rubbish from our beaches (that we are extremely lucky to have), Flossie's organisation also seeks to educate Ireland about their cause.
Through presenting workshops about plastic pollution in junior schools and corporate companies, people like Flossie are leading the way to a cleaner future.

And their mission extends far beyond the shores of South Dublin. As of late, the folks involved in Flossie and the Beach Cleaners have been heading overseas to tackle the issue of water pollution head-on.
Recently, Flossie herself headed to Indonesia where she met the Ambassador of Ireland for Indonesia to discuss the country's pollution problem, which she
documented on her blog.

Flossie headed to Indonesia as she set out to regularly visit a 'plastic river' in countries around the world as well as educate children in those countries about how they can help.
