Hotels should always be more than merely functional.
You might book yourself into any old place because, you think to yourself, you're only really using it as a place to sleep while you explore the city.
If this sounds familiar to you, it's because you're doing hotel stays all wrong.
Should you be visiting Belfast any time soon, you need to think about finding a hotel that ticks all your boxes — someplace with restaurants, bars and live music smack bang in the city centre.

The Cathedral Quarter is the most exciting part of Belfast and Bullitt, being wrapped around Victoria Street and Ann Street, is right in the middle of it.
From this base, you can explore some fantastic great bars and restaurants, like bustling Dirty Onion and delicious Coppi. You've also got Belfast’s shopping district right on your doorstep, being just seconds from Victoria Square.
While you're in the city there are certain things you have to do. First on your list has to be the Titanic Exhibition, where you'll see how the huge vessel was created, how it sank, and the mark it left on the world. It's a truly immersive experience and you're left seriously impressed by it.
Another thing on your to-do list is a Black Cab Tour, where you're picked up in a taxi and taken to locations of historical significance relating to The Troubles, including multiple mural walls. It's a riveting experience and a great way to get an insight into the city's past.
If you want to while away a few hours at your own relaxed pace, pay a visit to the gorgeous Botanic Gardens near Queen's University or go browsing for bargains at St George's Market, one of Belfast's oldest attractions.
The £4 million hotel officially opened its doors last October, having transformed the long-vacant Lagan House into something entirely fresh.
Its 43 bedrooms have been carefully designed to maximise space and you can choose from a range of three sizes: Dinky, Comfy or Roomy.
While each room type may differ in size, they all offer the same facilities, like soft king-size beds, rain showers, smart TVs and a daily breakfast bag filled with OJ, granola pot and fruit.
So when you're not out exploring, you've got plenty of comforts to enjoy.
While you're in the best part of the city for food and nightlife, there's enough going on at the hotel itself that you might not even feel the need to venture outside.
With its 68-seater restaurant, Espresso bar complete with Ireland's first Kees Van der Westen coffee machine, courtyard garden, and two bars (plus a rooftop bar on the way later this year) you could spend a whole day merely moving from one area to the next.
At the Taylor & Clay restaurant, they pride themselves on serving up all fresh ingredients from local farms and cooked using their signature Asador Grill. It's all prime cuts of meat and seafood, expertly charred and smoked. Their most popular dish is the wagyu beef — we can see why.
We've a feeling you might be a cocktail person, so you'll be wanting to check out the Bullitt Bar, where you choose from an extensive range of sweet alcoholic concoctions in the surrounds of the hotel's intimate courtyard.
Don't worry, there's also a bevy of craft beers on offer if cocktails aren't your thing.
For a change of scenery you can also head over to Bullitt's ski-inspired drinking den, where you can enjoy some live music and DJs playing eclectic party tunes.
Bullitt also plays host to a diverse series of events throughout the year, so be sure to make your stay coincide with something that appeals to you.
Comfort, convenience, restaurants, nightlife, a vibrant destination — these are the things you want from your city break.
With plenty to do and see, a trip to Belfast is one to remember — and one you won't regret.
