It's funny, we associate New Year's with new beginnings yet we always seem to celebrate it in the exact same way: by having an exceedingly underwhelming night out in town.

Why Achill Island?
We've talked before about the natural beauty of Achill Island, all there is to do there and why it's a great spot to take a break from your hectic lifestyle, so why not use Smithwick's 10° West as the excuse you need to get down there?
Located on a longitude of approximately 10 degrees west, Achill Island is one of the most westerly points in Ireland, so here you can be one of the lucky few to see the last sunset of 2017 in the country.

What can we expect?
This is the first year of Smithwick's 10° West, which will take place over December 31 and January 1. Over the course of the two days, there will be a range of both daytime activities and evening entertainment. Nature yoga sessions, breathtaking greenway cycles slicing between the Atlantic and the Slievemore Mountains and hikes through some of the most unexplored countryside in Ireland will be on the daytime agenda.
As evening falls, the island will serve as the backdrop for a boutique music festival, curated by Homebeat, with the main celebration in the Keel tent that will feature live performances from Daithi, Stomptown Brass, Lumo & Talos alongside acoustic and pop-up music sessions in some of Achill’s favourite ‘locals’ — complete with a chilled pint of Smithwick’s for good measure.
