‘We have faced our fair share of challenges’ Sligo café makes difficult decision to close

The café started out as a one woman show in 2014.

It's a sad day for Sligo locals as beloved café Sweet Beat are now officially closed. Sweet Beat café had been closed for an extended period of time; it was meant to reopen in December 2022 and again in February 2023, but never did due to issues beyond the owner's control.

Owner Carolanne Rushe took to Instagram to share the news with her followers, admitting it had taken her "months figuring out how and what to say" on the closure.

"As a single parent running the business the future looked incredibly challenging on my own and as you all know we have faced our fair share of challenges down through the years. It is with a heavy heart that I share this update with you today, and I’m so sorry it took me so long but it was hard to put into words that all of my hard work over the last 10 years is now over. I am very proud of what I created and will always be so grateful that I was given the opportunity to open Sweet Beat."

Rushe went on to thank her customers, suppliers, and everyone she had worked with over the years. We're sorry to see this Sligo café go, as are the many people who commented on the announcement, who shared their happy memories and condolences upon hearing they were closing.
