It’s been a huge weekend of partying for many in Dublin with the Electric Picnic festival so I’ve come up with a little miracle juice to pick all party goes off the floor and get the shit out of their system. You don’t have to be hungover either to try this juice because it is packed full of nutrients and could be just the pick me up you need if you feel illness coming on. We all put so much shit in our bodies these days and find it so hard to eat our 5 a day that I find the best option is simply to drink them and you’ll get most of your daily dose in this glass. The ginger works all sorts of miracles and even though you’ll still be aching from partying all weekend this will have you back right as rain in no time…
All the ingredients should be pretty easy to find. You could swap out the spinach for anything else green like rocket for example.
Peel the carrots and the ginger. Any old tool can peel carrots but the ginger is a little more tricky. Be fucking careful not to waste loads of it.
Pop the carrots in to the juicer. Don't be a tool like me and try and wedge them all in one go as they'll get stuck. Be patient and put them in one at a time.
Fire the peeled ginger in. Ginger is super powerful in taste so don't go too crazy but it is also good for you so don't be shy. It brings all the goodness to this juice!
You'll see all the pulp going away and it look like a massive waste (give it to chickens or pigs in the unlikely case that you have any!!).
Quarter up the apples. Dont worry about the skin or the pips because the juicer will take care of those fuckers.
Tricky part is peeling the lemon. Use a knife to go around the outside. All you want is the juicy bit in the middle and not the bitter skin.
Lash the lemon in. Half of one will probably do you at this stage but if you like it bitter fuck the whole thing in.
Push the juice through the filter getting every last drop of goodness out.
Thats it. Should be enough for 2 glasses and it is so powerful it will get you going straight away. If you had a seriously tough weekend then lash the 2 glasses together and have one big one.
You probably don’t even have the energy to peel the fruit given how much your body is aching but you have to gran the ingredients and the juicer and get this going. You’ll see an instant improvement in how you feel as your body will welcome all that goodness after the assault it has taken in the last few days. Stay off the booze and the burgers and stick to these for a few days and you’ll be as right as rain in no time.
