Wrap Up Warm – There Could Be Snow In Ireland Tonight

You better grab your hat and gloves because it's about to get much colder - with frost, sleet and even snow on the way. 

Met Eireann predicts the heavy rain will ease off this afternoon as temperatures drop, hitting as low as 3C in Connacht and Ulster. 

Wintry showers will set in later, with sleet and snow possible over the hills and mountains of the north and northwest. 

Frost is expected overnight and Thursday will be a bright and chilly day. 

The outlook for the rest of the week is cold, with daytime temperatures of just 4C to 7C. 

A forecaster said: "Scattered wintry showers will move into Atlantic counties - whilst snow will mainly transpire for higher ground, the odd flurry is possible on lower levels."
