Woman Killed After Being Hit By Train On Route To Waterford From Dublin

A woman was killed yesterday when she was struck by a train heading to Waterford from Dublin.

The incident happened near Kilkenny train station on the main line to Waterford just after 8pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene to recover the woman's remains. It is believed she was killed instantly.

Passengers on the train were kept on board while the victim's body was removed.

Irish Rail tweeted yesterday, "Heuston to Waterford delayed, emergency services attending tragic incident on the line near Kilkenny."

The gardaí confirmed they are investigating the incident.
