Wexford County Council has this afternoon pleaded with the public to stay away from beaches in order to avoid overcrowding.
In a statement posted on Twitter, Wexford County Council said: 'Our beaches are packed today. Please stay away at this time, take care of yourself and of others. Our little island is extremely fragile right now. Economically and on a human level we don't want another lockdown.'

Earlier on, WCC informed the public that car parks at Raven and Curracloe beaches had been closed due to the volumes of cars arriving in the area. Later, it was added that Duncannon beach car park was also closed.
While people are being encouraged to take holidays in Ireland, the public is also being asked to avoid places that are overcrowded. If you are out and about remember to maintain proper social distancing, wash your hands regularly and take other appropriate hygiene precautions.
