Met Éireann Issue Weather Warning For Several Counties Ahead Of Storm Oscar Fears

Fears of Storm Oscar grew on Wednesday when it was announced that temperatures would drop to as low as -4 ahead of his arrival.

Those fears have been confirmed now by Met Éireann who have announced a weather warning for six counties.

The counties in question are all coastal counties.

The Status Yellow wind warning was issued for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.

Met Eireann states that:

"Southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h, gust 90 to 100 km/h later Friday and Friday night in Atlantic coastal counties, strongest on the coast."

The warning was issued on November 1st at 1pm and is valid from Friday 2nd November at 3pm until November 3rd at 12pm

What we know at the moment is that Friday night will be wet and very windy. There will be southerly winds increasing very strong and gusty and will reach gale force on some coasts.

There will be a spell of heavy rain also, with a risk of spot flooding, especially in the west and north and it will be a very mild night with temperatures in the low teens.

It will be still blustery on Saturday morning, with strong and gusty southerly winds. Cloudy and misty too, with some heavy rain , but less windy and turning brighter and more showery for the second half of the day.

Temperatures above normal with values reaching 12 to 15 C. Saturday night will be windy at first, with showery rain affecting mainly the west and north, but southwesterly winds will ease through the night and showers will become more scattered.
