Several counties issued with weather warnings as strong winds hit Ireland

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for six counties. Issued on Monday morning, the alert will take effect from 1am to 5pm on Wednesday, 12 April. It applies to Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Limerick and Mayo. The warning reads:

"Very strong west to northwest winds developing. Widespread gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h expected, stronger in coastal areas and over higher ground. Wave overtopping in coastal areas."

A Status Yellow Weather Warning has been issued for several counties in Ireland. 

Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has also issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Antrim and Down. Set to be valid from 3pm on Tuesday until 3am on Wednesday, it reads:

"A period of strong winds bringing the potential for some disruption later on Tuesday and perhaps into the early hours of Wednesday."

As for the Easter Monday before the weather warning takes effect across Ireland, Met Éireann's national forecast states:

"Widespread heavy showers today, with a chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms possibly leading to spot flooding. The showers will be most frequent in the east and north and will ease off in the evening. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with strengthening westerly winds."
