WATCH: Doomsday Cult Takeover Shannon Airport Attacking People And Holding Hostages As Part Of Anti-Terror Exercise

A video taken by The Irish Mirror shows the exact moment when a 'Doomsday Cult' took over Shannon Airport as part of an anti-terror exercise.

The practice drill took place so that elite gardai and military personnel could evaluate their readiness for an attack.

There was 130 military and garda personnel involved who took on the "attackers" played by specialist trainers from the Garda college’s special tactics training school.

The hypothetical exercise began with the group storming the airport attacking 100 people where "shots were fired" as those shot at lay on the ground "covered in blood".

Victims were also attacked with machetes, machine guns and other firearms and some were taken and held hostage upstairs.

Gardaí and military personnel then rushed to the scene and entered the building to help the injured and those on the ground to safety.

They then began negotiations with the hostage takers as they tried to arrange a peaceful resolution with the terrorists

Following the operation - which is reported fully in the publication - Inspector Kieran Ruane of Ennis Garda Station, who led the exercise, said that the experience was a learning curve.

“The learning began before today in the planning process.

“This is not about focusing on the people but on the processes involved and getting them right.

"What is learned from this is that we can read manuals and explore theories but this is experiential learning.”

We know it isn't real but watching this is still very scary.
