“Two Major Chip Bugs” on iPhone, iPad’s and Macs Will Affect ALL Users

If you have an iPhone, iPad or any sort of Apple software, you need to know how to be prepared for this superbug.

Okay so to try and break this down in simple terms without getting too techy, a computer chip that is currently inside your various Apple devices is at a very high risk of giving criminals the ability to hack you.

World famous tech website, The Register, said that the defect affects the 'kernal memory' of the chip and that this problem makes it easy for hackers to crack into protected areas inside the chips thus exposing passwords and hacking your device.

In a statement on its website, Apple said "all Mac and iOS devices were affected by the two major bugs: Meltdown and Spectre."

The tech giant has said in a statement that it is working on creating software updates to fix the bugs.

However, if you are already updated to the most recent system update, you will be already protected against a 'Meltdown' attack.

But all Macs and iOS devices are vulnerable to 'Spectre' attacks through code that can run in web browsers including Apple’s own Safari.

In addition to this, Apple say they will issue a patch to its Safari web browser for those devices "in the coming days" but fixing the issues may cause devices to slow down.

Apple gave users this advice about the situation in their blog post:

"These issues apply to all modern processors and affect nearly all computing devices and operating systems.

"All Mac systems and iOS devices are affected, but there are no known exploits impacting customers at this time.

"Since exploiting many of these issues requires a malicious app to be loaded on your Mac or iOS device, we recommend downloading software only from trusted sources such as the App Store."
