Two young women have been injured in separate 'freak' accidents that occurred before the sold-out Ed Sheeran concerts in Cork on Saturday evening.
The Irish Independent reports that the accidents happened at different city centre locations, with both fans hospitalised after falls.
A 17-year-old girl was left with potentially life-altering injuries after she fell into a quarry in an attempt to take a shortcut to the gig at Pairc Uí Chaoímh, suffering back injuries.
She is in a critical but stable condition in Cork University Hospital.
In another incident, a woman in her 20s broke both her legs after falling from a two-storey building which she had reportedly climbed to try listen to the Ed Sheeran concert. She slipped and fractured both legs on the concrete below.
The building is close by to the GAA stadium.
Gardai were patrolling the area where she fell and the girl received medical help within minutes before an ambulance brought her to hospital.
