If you woke up this morning with a smile on your face, you're not alone - as today is apparently the happiest day of the year.
Dr Cliff Arnall, who coined the term Blue Monday, used a scientific formula to decipher that people are at their most content all year on 14 July.
Several factors were taken into account, with the end of the working week, rising temperatures and the prospect of outdoor activities with friends and family all contributing to our happiness.
It was also noted that the end of exam season and beginning of school holidays had a positive impact on everyone, with reduced traffic congestion during peak commuter times.
So, there's no excuse for being grump today!
