New matchmaking app Luvguru is launching in Dublin this June.
The idea was inspired by Ireland's tradition of playing matchmaker. From Willie Daly down at the Lisdoonvarna matchmaking festival to asking someone to shift your mate in a teenage disco, Irish people have always enjoyed helping others find love.
We spoke to CEO of Luvguru, Liam Grant, who says:
"Too often we saw people taking control of their mate's phone so they could start swiping on dating apps for them. It became clear that many of us get a kick out of playing cupid. The most common way people meet their long-term partner is through a mutual friend, so we are recreating this experience in a fun digital environment."
The best thing about Luvguru is that if you're in a relationship, you can use the app solely to help others find a date.
Those who are off the market can still get involved in all the fun swiping action and live vicariously through the love lives of others. Not only do you get to be a matchmaker, you also get rewarded for being a good one. If you make a match and the two love birds start chatting within the app you earn yourself a karma point.
The more you gain, the higher you will rise in the Luvguru leader board.
And you get to spread a little love in this world. Who could say no?
The officially launch party is taking place on June 14 at the All Out Designs Warehouse in North Strand.
Expect live art and music along with free drinks and grub.
Booze. Food. And a whole lotta love.
