This Email Scam Is Circulating The Country – Don’t Fall For It

The Office of the Revenue Commissioners are warning the public about email and text message scams that are doing the rounds at the moment. 

The messages, which ask for personal information from taxpayers in connection with a tax refund or seeking credit/debit card details, seem like they have been sent from Revenue.

The email tells recipients that they are "eligible to receive a refund of 265.48 GBP".

However, the message was not sent from Revenue.

In a statement, Revenue said: "The Revenue Commissioners never send emails or text messages requiring customers to send personal information via email, text or pop-up windows."

"Anyone who receives an email or text message purporting to be from Revenue and suspects it to be fraudulent or a scam should simply delete it. Anyone who is actually awaiting a tax refund should contact their local Revenue Office to check its status."
