Latest figures from the Central Statistics Office shows that property prices across the nation have increased by 10.5%, with the average price of a home €247,711.

The Journal reports that Dublin is the most expensive county to buy property in, with an average price of €389,895, with the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown area where you'll shell out most with an average of €563,011.

As for the least expensive? Unfortunately you'll be hard pressed to find a house for less than €100,000 in most parts of the country, but the three places you would are Longford, Leitrim, and Roscommon,

The lowest average was Longford with €88,837, followed by Leitrim with €97,637 and Roscommon at €99,117,
