blanket of white.

A Status Orange wind warning is in place for seven counties - covering Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry - while there's a Status Yellow warning in place for the rest of the country.
Met Eireann predicted that snow showers would hit parts of the country today and it looks like they were right.

Cold air originating from Canada will begin to feed down over Ireland today in the wake of Storm Ciara, which will bring scattered wintry precipitation. Snowfall is most likely in parts of the west and north, with "some accumulations possible".
According to the national forecaster's
website:
"The windy conditions that the country has experienced over the last few days will persist and coupled with the colder air it will feel bitterly cold, with significant wind chill."
People have been uploading images and videos of the snow to social media, with both Limerick and Carlow already feeling the effects of the cold weather.

The rest of the day will be "cold, very windy and wintry". The snow and ice warning will remain in place until 11:59pm on Tuesday.
