The Tidiest And Dirtiest Towns In Ireland Have Been Named

We all like to think that the area we live in can be classified as 'tidy', and while it would be nice not to see too much litter, that isn't always the case.

A new survey, however, has shown our best results yet for litter management in Ireland.

We're actually not as dirty as we were before.

The Irish Business Against Litter group surveyed 40 towns across our emerald isle and found that 80% of our towns and cities are as clean as the European equivalent. Which is quite impressive.

Even 16 of the towns were "cleaner than European norms".

The insightful survey showed that overall cleanliness has improved across the country over the past year.

Rural towns were top of the list with over 90% of those rural areas surveyed found to be clean while Dublin, Galway city centre areas and Dublin all scored pretty well in the ranking.

The tidiest town in Ireland was found to be Tullamore in Offaly.

Dublin Airport area, Roscommon, Leixlip and Longford were all ranked highly and the results showed it to be Ireland's best performance in the 16 years of the survey being conducted.

Maybe we aren't as bad litter bugs after all...

As for the dirtiest town in Ireland? It was found to be Galvone in Limerick City, which was ranked as "seriously littered".
