The Sunday Times Has Officially Apologised For The Publishing Of Kevin Myers’ Column

The Sunday Times has just this morning published an apology in the Irish edition of their paper following the publishing of a column written by Kevin Myers last week which had been branded anti-Semitic and misogynistic.

In the column, Myers made comments about the salaries of high-earning BBC presenters, singling out Claudia Winkleman and Vanessa Feltz in particular due to their faith and gender. Both women stated they found the piece deeply offensive.

The apology is printed with the headline 'Overstepping the mark', with the paper stating that Myers' column "included unacceptable comments that caused offence to many, in particular to the Jewish community".

According to the Irish Independent, over 50 complaints had been made directly to the Office of the Press Ombudsman over the piece.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, amongst others, have branded the column "anti-Semitic and misogynistic".
