The GAA is reportedly exploring the possibility of playing the All-Ireland Football and Hurling Finals in front of crowds next month.
With Level 5 restrictions expected to be lifted next month, the GAA hopes that spectators will be allowed into Croke Park for the All-Ireland Hurling Final on December 13 and the Football Final on December 19.
According to the
Irish Examiner, NPHET remain reluctant to allow mass gatherings for the remainder of the year but the Government has begun 'exploratory talks' to allow supporters attend the showpiece matches. Current restrictions are
set to be eased in three phases next month, with measures throughout December set to be largely characteristic of Level 3 of the Living with Covid plan. However, some alterations are expected and Level 2 states that 'for every large purpose-built event facilities specific guidance will be developed with the relevant sectors to take account of size and different conditions for larger events.'
The All-Ireland Hurling Final will be contested between the winners of the Waterford and Kilkenny semi-final and the Limerick and Galway semi-final.
