This Is The Dangerous Reason Why You Shouldn’t Take Herbal Remedies With Prescription Meds

Herbal remedies have become quite popular, with many people incorporating them into their daily routine.

However, taking herbal remedies (including herbal tea) while on prescription medication could be quite dangerous.

A new study, which was published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, stated that combining the two could lead to possible adverse reactions. 

After looking at 49 reports of possible adverse reactions, the researchers found that almost 60% were likely to have been caused by interactions between prescription drugs and herbal remedies.

The study stated: "Concomitant intake of herbal medicines and prescribed medications is a common practice, especially in patients with hypertension, diabetes, cancer, seizures and depression."

"This is problematic particularly for drugs exhibiting a narrow therapeutic index."

So, if you have been prescribed medication, and you take herbal remedies, it could be vital to let your doctor know.
