It's fair to say that we're all pretty pissed off at the constant rise in car insurance premiums over the past few years and it looks as if another change could be on the horizon.
Insurance group Admiral has announced that it is introducing a new system, whereby selected drivers will be quoted based on information from their Facebook profile.
According to The Guardian, the firstcarquote initiative is voluntary and is aimed at first-time drivers or owners, although anyone with a licence can apply.
The insurer will look for personality traits linked to safe driving, such as writing in short concrete sentences, using lists, and arranging to meet friends at a set time and place.
They will also look out for warning signs of overconfident, such as the use of exclamation marks or opting to use “always” or “never” rather than “maybe”.
“It is incredibly transparent. If you don’t want to use it in a quote, then you don’t have to," said a spokesperson.
"We are doing our best to build a product that allows young people to identify themselves as safe drivers.”
The company has said that it will use the information to offer discounts, rather then price increases, but we're not sure everyone will be happy about it!
