The average cost of petrol and diesel is at an 18-month high, according to latest figures from AA Ireland. 

Getting behind the wheel is getting more expensive with motorists splashing out an average of 137.7 cents for a litre of petrol. That's up a single cent from February prices.

Diesel is setting people back 127.1 cents per litre, an increase of 0.7 cents since last month. 

March's figures are the highest since August 2015 when petrol and diesel cost 43.6c and 128.8c per litre respectively.
