Add us as a preferred source on Google »New figures released by the Health Research Board have revealed that the median age for Irish people seeking help for alcohol abuse has risen from 38 in 2009 to 41 in 2015.
Overall, there has been a decline in the number of people seeking help. 7,993 people were treated for problem alcohol abuse in 2009 compared to just 7,616 in 2015.
The male/female ratio has remained unchanged over the six-year period with two out of three problem drinkers being male.
