From 66/1 To 6/1 In One Hour And Counting – We Could Be Looking At The Next Irish Manager

Shortly after 11am, we compiled a list of the bookmakers favourites to become manager of the Republic of Ireland.

There was a clear favourite, at 5/6 and the blast from the past was joined in good company by Kenny, Allerdyce and Carsley to name but a few.

At that time, former England manager, Sven Goran Eriksson was 66/1.

But come 12:30pm, the 70-year-old has had his odds cut from 66/1 to fecking 6/1 meaning that he is now third-favourite to get the gig.

He is currently in charge of The Philippines national team but the man they call Eriksson from Sweden could be heading for our little nation.

Making his name in the Serie A in the mid to late 90s, Sven managed England from 2001-2006 and brought them to two World Cups and the Euros in 2004.

He also had very unsuccessful spells with Mexico, Manchester City And Leicester City in the early 2010s.

His track record with the English football team, however, is what always shines brightest above the rest.

And, the bookies seem to know something we don't...
