A Third Storm Could Hit Ireland This Weekend With ‘Very Disturbed’ Weather On The Way

Ireland is still recovering from the damage caused by Storm Ali and Storm Bronagh has barely arrived on our shores - and now we’re already getting warnings about a third storm on the way.

Met Éireann had issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for seven counties up until 9pm tonight, advising how a ‘very disturbed’ low pressure system could be the cause of Storm Bronagh.

Now, experts say that Storm Callum could follow on from that weather pattern on Saturday evening, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.

Met Éireann said, “For Saturday, present charts indicate rain and freshening easterly winds will affect the southern half of the country, but that further north it will stay mainly dry with some bright or sunny spells and just light variable winds.

“On Saturday night and early Sunday there is the likelihood of more widespread rain for a time with some strong winds possible as a low pressure tracks close to or over Ireland.”

Weather experts say it’s too early to tell for certain whether the storm will materialise, though Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly confirmed, ‘If the system on Sunday does materialise and reaches naming levels it will be #StormCallum.’
