Status Orange gale warning issued for Irish coast as weather takes a turn for the worse

The country is in for some wild conditions today as Met Éireann has issued not one, but two separate warnings - both advising that strong winds and gusty conditions are to be expected. Yesterday issuing a nationwide status yellow wind warning, forecasters predict that conditions will become "very windy" from this afternoon. In place for the entire country, the warning reads: "Southwest winds, veering westerly will gust 90 to 110km/h generally, higher at times on hills and coasts in the south and west with a risk of some wave overtopping." https://twitter.com/MetEireann/status/1369577989877432322 Due to remain in place until 7am tomorrow morning, forecasters followed that up with another weather warning this morning, advising that southwest winds will reach gale force strengths along all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea. "Southwest winds will reach gale force 8 or strong gale force 9 today (Wednesday) and tonight on all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea, reaching storm force 10 from Wicklow Head to Roches Point to Loop Head this evening and tonight." Showery outbreaks of rain are expected throughout the day with some heavy falls in places. Strong and very gusty southwest winds will become stronger still as the afternoon progresses. Conditions will become extremely windy overnight with tomorrow's forecast looking like it will be "cool and blustery with a mix of frequent heavy showers and some sunny spells".
