The Beast From The East part 2 could cause mayhem on Paddy's Day according to weather expert Alan O’Reilly of CarlowWeather.com.
He told The Irish Sun that “It looks a little less severe [than Storm Emma] but it is hard to tell because the two weather models we would primarily look at are not in agreement.
“Worst-case scenario is a couple of inches falling from some local showers in some areas in the east and then hard frost in the night time.
“You’re looking at the potential of small accumulations of lying snow with frost on top of that leading to icy conditions.
“But trying to forecast the details, at present, is very difficult based on the weather models. So it still does look like it will be cold and still a risk of snow showers.
“You could get a couple of heavy showers that give an inch or two of snowfall in some areas, but trying to forecast snow off the Irish Sea is very difficult.”

According to the graph above, it looks as though the north could get the brunt of it if it's a case that the snow showers come.
Met Éireann admits that while it will be cold for St Patrick's weekend with frosty nights and scattered wintry showers most of these look set to be reasonably light.
Time will only tell.
