After the mini increase in temperatures last week, Ireland could be on track to feel the first of possibly many wintry showers to come this winter during the Bank Holiday at the end of October.
Conditions are expected to get colder on the Friday before the bank holiday and Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly has said that weather charts are currently showing that cold weather is heading for Ireland.
“GFS 12z charts follow the ECMWF even further with blast of cold next weekend and even showing some wintry showers possible! Interesting to see next update from ECMWF shortly.”
“GFS is now in agreement with ECMWF as it also shows a cold Northerly blast for next Friday and into the Bank Holiday Weekend.”
Although the map at the moment shows that the cold blast could be headed for Ireland, it's still hard to decide how heavy or light of an impact it may have on the country.

Temperatures have gotten noticeably lower over the past few days and Sunday night will see lows of nearly minus conditions in some parts of the country.
For the Bank Holiday, Met Eireann confirmed that the trend for next weekend is that it's going to be much cooler than of late with temperatures below normal.
They added that it would be "windy at first, with occasional rain or hail showers. Cold at night, with some frost."
Time to start searching for that hot water bottle, folks.
