PICS: People Have Been Sharing Photos Of The Snow Falling Around Ireland Today

Parts of the country have finally started seeing a bit of snow after the miserable rain and freezing cold weather we’ve been dealing with recently.

Actual snow, too – not just the kind that disappears the moment it hits the ground.

People around Ireland have been sharing photos on Twitter and it appears to have hit a fair few places around the country already:

Twitter users in Donegal, Clare, Kerry, Cork, southeast Dublin and Wicklow (to name just a few places) have been posting videos and photos of the first snow to hit Ireland.

Met Eireann confirmed early on Tuesday that Ireland would be hit with "heavy disruptive snow" this week and extended the status yellow snow-ice warning for the whole country from Tuesday until Saturday afternoon at 12pm.

Temperatures are expected to plummet to as low as -5°C, while the worst of the snow is expected to hit later in the week.

The forecaster added that they would update the warning again on Wednesday.

Gardaí also issued a warning to those in the Sally Gap area that said, 'Snow is accumulating on the road from Sally Gap Cross towards Glencree. Warning signs are now being placed on all approach roads to the Sally Gap.'
