A status yellow snow/ice warning has been issued for 13 counties with forecasters predicting that 'hazardous conditions' will hit this weekend.
Met Éireann has just issued a status yellow snow/ice warning for parts of the country - predicting that falls of hail, sleet and snow are on the way. Issued earlier this afternoon, the warning extends to Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo with it set to remain in place until noontime tomorrow.

Tonight is expected to turn very cold with frost and icy patches developing across the country. Scattered showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow also forecast. According to Met Éireann temperatures will drop to below freezing, ranging from -3 to -1 degrees celsius.

Saturday
Saturday will be another cold day with frost lingering for much of the morning. Conditions are expected to stay dry over most of the country with "spells of winter sunshine", however, scattered showers of hail,sleet and snow will continue in the northwest.
Tomorrow night will be cold with a "band of sleet and snow in the west moving eastwards across the country". Accumulations are likely in many areas. Lowest temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees.
Sunday
The cold spell will continue into Sunday, though sunny spells and scattered showers will prevail and temperatures will rise to 3 to 5 degrees celsius.
Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has also issued a snow/ice warning, with forecasters advising locals in Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry to exercise extreme caution. Valid from 4pm this afternoon, the warning is due to extend until 10:30am tomorrow morning.
