Minister For Health Being Sued Following Controversial Tweets About RTÉ Programme

The Irish Independent is reporting that a barrister has begun defamation proceedings against Minister for Health Simon Harris and one Fine Gael Senator.

The proceedings are over a tweet from the politicians after the barrister in question had took part in an RTE radio programme.

The barrister was on a panel discussion about the referendum for the Eighth Amendment and states that shortly after, the politicians tweeted comments that he found to be defamatory and damaging to his professional reputation.

The barrister is seeking damages for alleged defamation and the actions were lodged with the High Court earlier in the week.

The RTÉ programme that the barrister featured on was Saturday with Cormac Ó hEadhra which "questions agendas, dissects the week gone by, and debates the likely issues of the week to come."
