Seven counties issued with weather warning as midweek storm looms large

Met Éireann has issued seven counties with a status yellow wind warning as a week of wet and windy weather awaits.

The counties in question are Galway, Clare, Limerick, Kerry, Cork, Waterford, Wexford and the warning reads: 'Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night, southwest to west winds will reach mean wind speeds of 50 to 65 km/h, with gusts ranging 80 to 110km/h, higher in exposed locations.' The warning is valid from 12pm on Wednesday until 6am on Thursday. https://twitter.com/MetEireann/status/1368930127791460360 The new warning comes after Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather suggested that Storm Evert could be named in time for Wednesday. He said that 'Met Éireann along with UK Met Office could name it as it will likely impact Britain too.
