The airline says it is "embarking on a new decade of growth and investment" in Ireland.
Ryanair has announced plans for a new €50 million training centre and the creation of over 2,000 new jobs in Ireland as part of its plans for the next decade.
On Wednesday (28 September), Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson revealed that the training centre would be used for pilots and cabin crew and would be based in Santry in Dublin.
He also said that the 2,000 jobs would be created by 2030 and would include roles for pilots, cabin crew, engineers and IT developers.
Wilson made the comments at the launch of an independent report prepared by international consultants PwC which shows that Ryanair is one of Ireland's largest contributors to economic growth and development since 1985.
At the event, the CEO said that Ryanair is "now embarking on a new decade of growth and investment" in the country and laid out various other plans for the airline, including:
- Investing over €20 billion in new technology aircraft, with 210 new B737 Gamechangers ordered
- Opening a new €8 million engineering excellence centre in Dublin.
- Investing €10 million in a 3-bay maintenance Hangar in Shannon, creating over 200 new jobs in Clare.
- Growing Ryanair Labs from 600 to 1,000 high-tech development jobs over the next five years
- Growing traffic to and from Ireland by 50% from 20 million to 30 million passengers per annum by 2030
In a statement, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar described Ryanair as "one of the world's most innovative airlines and a formidable Irish company".
"There’s more good news today with Ryanair’s commitment to grow its Irish passenger numbers to 30 million per annum, to create over 2,000 new high-skill jobs and invest further in its seven airports in Ireland," he added.
