PIC: It Seems Like Ryanair Strike Might Not Be Going Ahead In Ireland Next Week

Ryanair is pleading with its Dublin-based pilots to call off their planned strike for next week.

The airline are saying that the planned 12 July strike needs to be put to a halt as the union has "no mandate" for action.

In a statement on Friday released to social media, the airline said: "Ryanair calls on Fórsa union to cancel next Thursday's unnecessary Irish pilot strike, and take up Ryanair's invitation to meet on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday next week at Ryanair offices to discuss the issues of seniority and base transfers."

It states that the issues "have already been addressed in written proposals sent by Ryanair to Fórsa".

"Ryanair’s Irish passengers should not be disrupted next Thursday when this strike has the support of just 94 of Ryanair’s over 350 Irish pilots.

“This is a quorum of just 27pc, and significantly less than one third of Ryanair’s Irish pilots.

"Forsa should explain why Aer Lingus pilots are organising a strike to disrupt thousands of Ryanair customers even before a ballot of 27pc of Ryanair’s pilots has been completed."

This comes just one day after it was announced that Ryanair's cabin crew would be holding 24 hour strikes towards the end of July in these four countries.
