After much debate over whether Mary Lou McDonald would be allowed to debate, RTE has confirmed that the Sinn Fein leader will be debating in the big debate on Tuesday.
With Saturday's General Election looming large, many felt that it was unfair that Mary Lou McDonald wasn't going appear alongside her Fine Gael and Fianna Fail counterparts Leo Varadkar and Micheal Martin. However, with Sinn Fein
now level with Fianna Fail in the latest opinion polls, it seems that the national broadcaster has had a change of heart.
RTE
confirmed the news by saying it has 'decided to invite Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald to take part in tomorrow’s Prime Time leaders’ debate.'

It has also been confirmed that RTE will invite the leaders of five other parties to a debate on Prime Time this Thursday night. Tuesday night's debate featuring Mary Lou McDonald, Leo Varadkar and Micheal Martin is due to air on RTE One at 9.35pm.
