After a night of wind, snow, blizzards and freezing cold temperatures, a number of Irish roads are covered in snow.
Gardaí have warned drivers to remain off the roads unless it is absolutely necessary, and several cars have been abandoned on roads as a result of the heavy snow.

AA Roadwatch has reported that among the worst affected areas are Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow, Kildare, Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, Tipperary and Galway.
The Athy/Stradbally Rd (R428) and the Naas/Newbridge Rd (R445) are both impassable, while snow drifts are blocking several roads in Newbridge.
The majority of routes around Tallaght and Lucan are impassable due to ice and thick coverings of snow on the roads, with Lucan Village and Liffey Valley inaccessible.
Gardaí have reported dangerous and impassable roads around Clondalkin with cars abandoned on a number of roads, and slip roads from the N7 and N4 are reportedly poor due to slippery conditions.
All routes in Dundrum are impassable due to thick snow, and conditions in Crumlin are also poor.
Gardaí in Coolock have reported a number of abandoned vehicles on routes due to impassable roads.
Routes around Ashbourne and Dunboyne in Meath are impassable. Conditions are also poor in Kells.
There is snowfall on routes across Galway including around Loughrea, Gort and Ballinasloe. Secondary routes are extremely dangerous, and Galway City is also in poor condition with heavy snow.
The N52 is reportedly impassable.
The Mountrath/Birr Rd (R440) remains closed between Mountrath and Kinitty until further notice due to icy conditions. The N80 is also impassable between Portlaoise and Stradbally.
