Road-Users Urged To Be Aware Of Spot Flooding And Debris Over The Next 24 Hours

People travelling for New Year's Eve celebrations today are being urged to exercise caution while using the country's roads tonight. 

Both debris and spot flooding are to be expected across the country tonight following nationwide storm warnings from Met Éireann which have since been updated this morning. 

A status orange weather alert is issued for Donegal with status yellow wind warnings in place for the rest of the country.

This weather warning is in place until 9am this morning. However, aftermath is to be expected until at least tomorrow. 

Met Éireann have announced that high winds could lead to structural damage, with flooded areas particularly vulnerable due to branches and trees.

The worst affected areas are set to be western and northern counties, with gusts of 110-125kmh in areas affected by the orange weather alert. 

These include counties in Connacht as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford, Louth, Westmeath, Meath and Clare.
