AA Roadwatch has released a full list of roads that are being reported as dangerous or treacherous because of the snow.
The following list can be found here and is updated regularly on their website.
In the Red Warning areas, the following roads are being monitored:
- In Dublin, Gardaí report that main routes across the city are generally in good driving condition. Caution is advised on secondary and minor roads as these are less likely to have been gritted.
- Routes around Wicklow are extremely dangerous due to snow. In Arklow, Kilcarra Rd (R747) from Arklow to Kilcarra is impassable due to very icy conditions. The Old Military Rd (R115) is closed until further notice from the View Point to the Sally Gap.
- In Kildare, secondary routes around Naas and Athy are particularly icy.
- Conditions remain slippery across many parts of Meath, especially around Kells, where Gardaí advise motorists to stick to the N3. It’s also snowing again around Enfield and Trim, where the Trim/Longwood Rd (R160) has reopened near Brannockstown Cross following the removal of a jack-knifed truck.
- Further north, in Louth, the M1 is reportedly icy near Drogheda so extreme caution is needed. Some secondary routes outside the town are also very treacherous. Gardai in Dundalk say the N33 is almost impassable between the motorway and Ardee. Avoid this route.
Orange Warning areas:
- Road conditions are treacherous in Longford and Westmeath, though the main roads are passable with care.
- Poor conditions have been reported on secondary routes in the Dungarvan and Tramore areas of Waterford. However, the N25 is passable and Gardaí report no major issues in Waterford City.
- Conditions are poor around Thomastown in Kilkenny, while main routes and roads in Kilkenny City are slushy.
- In Cork, Gardaí are advising road users to avoid Youghal at present as ice is affecting most main routes. Tallow St, North Main St and Cork Hill are closed or to be closed. The N25 around the town is passable with care.
- In Mallow, Gardaí report very icy conditions and caution is advised on all routes in the area. Gardaí in Midleton report poor conditions on secondary routes in the area following snowfall, however the N25 is passable.
- There are poor driving conditions on secondary routes in Bandon but roads in Cork City are in good driving condition.
- In Laois, the Mountrath/Birr Rd (R440) is closed between Mountrath and Kinitty due to icy conditions. It’s also quite icy around Graiguecullen and Abbeyleix. Elsewhere, gardai are reporting that conditions are improving on many routes throughout the county but motorists are being advised to stick to main routes where possible.
- In Offaly, conditions are slippery around Tullamore and Birr. Gardaí advise staying on main routes.
- In Tipperary, Gardai report slippery conditions around Thurles.
- Gardaí in Wexford report poor conditions on secondary routes around the county.
- Gardaí in Carlow report that conditions have improved in Tullow and Carlow Town.
Yellow Warning areas:
- Gardaí in Limerick are warning of icy and snowy conditions on secondary routes and sheltered areas around Bruff and Kilmallock. Overall however, conditions are not too bad countywide.
- In Ballinasloe, there are snowy conditions on secondary routes. Otherwise, road conditions in Galway are generally good.
- Gardaí in Cavan are reporting very snowy conditions in Cavan town, Virginia and Baileborough. In Ballyconnell, snow is just affecting secondary routes at this point.
- It's snowy on routes around Buncrana, however, there are no major problems for conditions in the rest of Donegal.
- Snow is making driving conditions difficult along the N4 in Sligo around Casltebaldwin and Ballinafad.
- Gardaí in Leitrim say that snow is making driving conditions difficult across the county and particular care is needed on the N4.
- In Roscommon town, Gardaí are reporting snow on main and secondary routes. West to Castlerea, snow is beginning to stick.
- Gardaí in Monaghan report that there are snowy conditions throughout Carrickmacross and on secondary routes in Castleblayney.

Snow-ice warnings are currently in place for the following counties:
Status Red: Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wicklow and Meath.
Status Orange: Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wexford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.
Status Yellow: Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Clare and Limerick.
