Last year saw 106 incidents investigated.
In a shocking new report, the number of spiking investigations almost doubled in 2022 compared to 2021. Last year 106 spiking incidents were investigated while there were 62 in 2021 and 12 in 2020 (although bars and clubs remained closed for the majority of this year).
It is believed that there could well have been more than 106 incidents, but oftentimes spiking cases go unreported.

Irish Sun, TD Mark Ward said this of the new figures.
"An awareness campaign must be rolled out to people that are working in the industry including barmen and door staff and whoever might be there to make them a safe location for everybody.
"There also needs to be visibility – especially in our town centres at night time – by gardai. That would act as a deterrent as well if there was a more visible garda presence as well."
Minister for Justice Simon Harris says they are committed to implementing a zero tolerance policy where domestic sexual and gender-based violence is concerned. There is expected to be an increase in funding to combat DSGBV in Budget 2023.
