The Irish Independent is reporting that a priest in Meath told charity, St. Vincent De Paul to remove a clothing bank from its church grounds because the charity would not take a no stance in the abortion referendum.
The priest, Fr Patrick O'Connor, was newly appointed to the area and left locals furious when he "demanded" that the bank was removed.
A source told the publication that: "Now more than ever we have a homelessness crisis in Ireland. SVP support some of the most vulnerable in society.
"To ask them, at local level, to remove their clothes bank from parish property, shows the continued ignorance of the world around the Catholic Church at parish level."
Although the priest has since said that the clothes bank will be "reinstated", the charity were still very disappointed at the initial decision to remove it.
Meath was one of the highest 'yes' votes in the country.
It comes exactly one day after the Bishop of Elphin hit headlines on Monday morning after he said those who voted yes in the recent referendum on the Eighth Amendment had sinned and needed to go to confession.
The Bishop's comments were met with a classy and 21st century response in the evening by Priest Fr. Brian D'Arcy.
As well as this, 'yes' voters were told in this parish that they "weren't welcome" at mass on Sunday.
