And there we were, getting carried away that all this talk about snow would mean that we'd get a day off.
Apparently not.
Minister for Housing, Eoghan Murphy has said that the Government cannot instruct a company to close if a red weather alert is put in place.
Although it looks like Met Éireann will be forced to issued a Status Red weather warning because of Storm Emma's arrival, it does not mean that those who work for businesses will get time off work.
The Minister says that it is up to the company on what direction they take with the weather warning and said to Morning Ireland that: “We need to make sure we have robust communications for companies.
“One of the pieces of feedback after Storm Ophelia is that businesses need more direction.
“We can’t tell a business how to operate and do a blanket thing that every business should close because every business operate in different ways.
“But the onus is on the employer to put the safety of their staff to the forefront.”
There you go, all this talk about days off and you might not even get one after all that...
