We think it's safe to say that we've all gone a bit mad with the impending visit of Pope Francis this weekend.
From holy-water infused beer and 'Pope Packs' to this latest example of Pope mania, we can assume that a papal-tinged hysteria has descended upon the people of Ireland, and you better believe we're drinking that Kool-aid.
His Holiness will be in Dublin for most of his visit, but no trip to Ireland would be complete for the Pontiff without a stop off in Knock for a bit of mass.
And when he does, he will be greeted with a knitted life-sized version of himself.
Complete with full Pope regalia, the life-sized figure took 80 days to complete and was created by Teresa Hughes, Jacintha Mc Donald, Maire Ni Fhearraigh from Ballavarry and Helen Burke without a pattern. (Which is pretty damn impressive.)
In addition to giving Pope Francis a warm welcome when he arrives, the women are hoping to raise money for charity. After its debut in Knock Airport, the crochet pontiff will be on display in their shop, Stitch after Stitch Wool & Fabric Shop in Castlebar until September.
